Said European Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger in an interview in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagzeitung.
He called into question the future of the gas pipeline “South Stream”.
According to Ettinger its construction depends on the return of Moscow in the legal framework in relation to Ukrainian crisis.
“We will continue to call, if Russian partners returned to the legal framework and constructive cooperation on the basis of our policies in the energy sector” - said the commissioner.
According to him, these talks stalled due to the reluctance of Russia to agree with the European regulations and the fact that “the crisis in Ukraine has blocked all”.
Etinger said that dialogue with the Russian side continues at the working level, but “for the current situation with signs of a civil war in the east of Ukraine, and without recognition by Moscow government in Kiev, we will definitely not be able to reach a political agreement in our negotiations,” - said Ettinger.
As you know, the plans of the Russian “Gazprom” gas pipeline “South Stream” should be laid from the south of the Black Sea, bypassing Ukraine.
It has a pipe to link Russia to Bulgaria and then branches gas has to go to Greece, Italy, Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia and Austria.
For a similar scheme previously built the pipeline “Nord Stream”, which is connected with the Russian Baltic Sea north of Germany, bypassing Ukraine.
